The Spartan Elite License is a prestigious credential reserved exclusively for athletes who have proven their grit, speed, and resilience through top-tier performances on the course.

Designed to create exclusive access to Elite heats at 2027 Regional Championship & World Championship races for athletes who meet specific performance criteria.

How it Works

The Elite License

Earned entirely through merit, this license officially validates your qualification to compete in the Elite category against Spartan’s apex competitors throughout the 2027 season.

What your Elite License includes:

Direct access to all Championship Elite heats, including Regional Championships and the World Championship.
No additional qualification required for Championship Elite races. Your Elite License automatically qualifies you for all Championship Elite heats throughout the 2027 season.
Regular races and National/Regional Series Elite heats remain open and can be entered without any Elite License requirement.
Later this year, you will be asked to accept or decline your Elite License.
If you accept, you commit to racing exclusively in the Elite category for the entire 2027 season. Elite License holders will not be eligible to compete in the Age Group category at any Spartan race during the year.

Eligibility & Performance Criteria

Qualified athletes aged 18+ can earn an Elite License by meeting the program's performance standards between January 1 and December 31, 2026. These standards include:

Top 15 Overall (Elite and Age Group combined) at any Spartan Regular Race (Sprint, Super, Beast, or Ultra)
Top 15 in a Spartan National or Regional Series Elite race
Top 25 at a Spartan Regional Championship Elite race
Top 30 at a Spartan World Championship Elite race

Beginning with the 2027 season, Age Group athletes will also have dedicated opportunities to qualify for future Elite Licenses, further increasing competition and raising the standard of Elite racing.
In addition, Spartan HQ may award a limited number of wildcard entries at its discretion.

License Attribution

Athletes MUST have an updated Spartan account with accurate personal information. When an athlete is eligible for the Spartan Elite License program, they will have the choice to accept or deny.

A) Accepting athletes must compete in the Elite category whenever an Elite heat is available. Racing in Age Group at an event offering an Elite heat will result in the loss of the Elite License. Open heats remain allowed.
B) Denying athletes can race:
- Elite heats at regular races and National Series events
- Age Group categories

Attribution: Qualified athletes will receive an official email with: - Qualification confirmation - Next steps - Instructions to access gated Elite heats
